Morten Kristiansen

I am educated as a data technician with speciality in infrastructure and have a passion for IT infrastructure, servers, networking, and virtualization. Experience with VMware vSphere, Cisco/UniFi networks, as well as Windows and Linux systems. As a person, I work with focus and determination, am a dedicated team player, with a desire to see things through to completion. In my spare time, I enjoy nature experiences, photography and experimenting with technologies in my homelab. I combine technical expertise with a friendly, calm demeanor and find great joy in solving IT challenges.

Completed Projects

Take a look at my recently completed projects.

Learning Python
  • Going through Dave Grays Python Tutorials for Beginners on youtube.

  • Various other small projects like pixel bots, RSP, and similar.

  • Homelab, trying to create scripts for the creation of virtual machines with and without services like ADDS, DHCP, etc., with the plan of setting up a full environment via Python/PowerShell.

  • Creation/deletion of User/Security.

  • My projects can be seen on my GitHub.

Creating my own website(s)
  • Creating this very website, and a second website with the purpose of having one as my "portfolio" website and a second as my photography Web Store.

  • Server environment focusing on redundancy/HA, with ADDS, DHCP, WDS/MDT, File servere, Clients, pfSense, Passbolt, Veeam, WDS, TrueNAS, etc.

  • Monitoring tool to track performance and availability of IT infrastructure. In this case, I implemented it in my homelab by installing Zabbix agents on the VMs. Previously, I have used it to monitor Cisco, ESXi hosts, and Ubiquiti equipment with SNMP.

Homelab
Zabbix
TrueNAS og Veeam
  • TrueNAS to simulate how a server environment could be set up in real life with iSCSI, as I don’t have a NAS or SAN myself. I’m also interested in having a NAS in the future for all my photos and files, so I simply wanted to check it out. And of course, Veeam for backups, as it's something I’ve had a positive experience using in the past.
